Dr Muhammad Ashraf
Dr Muhammad Ashraf has resided in Mackay since 2003. He has been the Practice Principal of Mackay Surgical Group since 2010. He lives in Mackay with his wife and three children and has strong community ties. He has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery. Dr Ashraf is a cricket supporter and can often been found gardening and spending time with his family during his downtime. |
Dr Adrian Westcott
Dr Adrian Westcott grew up in Sarina and returned to Mackay following his surgical training in Brisbane. He has been a Practice Principal of Mackay Surgical since 2010. His interests include hockey, cricket and spending time with his wife and three children. Dr Westcott has a keen interest in Breast and Endocrine surgery. |
Dr David Mackrill
Dr Mackrill grew up in Yorkshire in the North of England after finishing medical school and doing his basic surgical training in the UK he moved to Australia in 2007. He completed his surgical training in and around southeast Queensland then developed his skills further with a fellowship in colorectal surgery. Dr Mackrill joined Mackay Surgical Group at the start of 2019, relocating with his wife and young family. His special interests are in minimally invasive colorectal surgery for colon and rectal cancers, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and endometriosis. He also has a special interest in functional bowel disorders such as faecal incontinence, constipation, and obstructive defecation along with the treatment of perianal diseases including fistula-in-ano. He also regularly performs colonoscopy. Mackay Surgical Group are delighted with the introduction of Dr Mackrill into our practice with his colorectal specialty allowing patients in Mackay to no longer travel out of our region for surgical procedures and management. |
Dr Wendela Schimmer
Dr Wendela lives in Mackay with her husband and four young daughters. She has been working at the Mackay Base Hospital since 2014 as a General and Breast Surgeon. Dr Schimmer received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Brussels in 2000 and joined the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2010. She worked for 6 years in Victoria until she decided she wanted to work and live in a more regional setting. Dr Schimmer brings a wealth of experience to Mackay Surgical Group and is looking forward to specialising in the field of Breast surgery and management. Dr Schimmer is multi-lingual speaking English, Dutch, French and some German. Dr Schimmer enjoys spending time with her family and exploring Mackay and the surrounds and can often be found at community events around the region. |

We have a clerical and nursing team that consists of: Michelle, Estelle, Erin, Kristy, Sherril, Fiona and Nurse Debbie. Often regarded as the loudest suite in the Medical Suite building the girls are more than happy to help with any enquiries that you may have.
